YEAST EXTRACT PHOSPHATE AGAR

Yeast Extract Phosphate Agar is a solid selective medium for isolation of pathogenic fungi from clinical specimens. The plates are deep-filled to prevent dehydration during the incubation at room temperature for several weeks.

This medium is for laboratory use only.


STORAGE
Store prepared media at 2-8 C protected from direct light.


SIGN OF DETERIORATION
Media should not be used if the expiry date has passed. Prepared media should not be used if there are signs of contamination or deterioration (shrinking, cracking, evaporation or discoloration).


PROCEDURE
Prior to inoculate, the prepared media should be brought to room temperature.

  1. Directly, inoculate plate as soon as possible with specimen and streak for isolation. For cutaneous specimens, press specimen gently on the surface of the agar.
  2. Tape the plates and incubate at 25 C for 4-6 weeks. Examine frequently for growth.
