Tryp Soy Broth 6,5% Sodium Chloride is a liquid medium used to differentiate enterococci from other streptococci based on his high concentration of NaCl. Sodium chloride reacts as selective agents because mostly of Enterococci sp. may grow in this selective broth.

Store prepared media at 2-8° C protected from direct light and dehydrated powder, in a dry place in tightly-sealed containers at 2-25° C.
SIGN OF DETERIORATION
Media should not be used if the expiry date has passed. Prepared media should not be used if there are signs of contamination (evaporation or discoloration). Do not use dehydrated media if it is caked.
Suspend 30 g of powder in 1000 ml of purified filtered water and add 60 g of Sodium Chloride. Heat with frequent agitation to dissolve. Mix thouroughly and dispense into culture tubes. Sterilize at 121° C for 15 minutes.
Bring prepared medium at room temperature before inoculation.
Expected results after 24 hrs at 35ºC
LIMITATIONS OF METHOD
Negative result may be confirmed only after 3 days of incubation. This is only a part of the identification. Others tests may be required.
