Tyrosine Agar is a solid culture medium used to differentiate Actinomycetales by their ability to hydrolyze tyrosine and clarify the medium.

PRECAUTIONS
This medium is for IN VITRO diagnostic use only.


STORAGE
Store prepared media at 2-8 C protected from direct light.


SIGN OF DETERIORATION
Media should not be used if the expiry date has passed. Prepared media should not be used if there are signs of contamination (shrinking, cracking, evaporation or discoloration).


PROCEDURE
Bring prepared medium at room temperature before inoculation.

  1. Inoculate with pure growth. Inoculate a positive control at the same moment.
  2. Plates should be sealed with masking tape.
  3. Incubate at 25 C for up to 7 days or for up to growth of positive control.

LIMITATIONS OF METHOD
It is important to run a positive control at the same moment. This is only a part of the identification. Others tests may be required.
