PYRUVATE BROTH

Pyruvate Broth is a liquid highly nutrious medium used to determine the utilization by a microorganism of pyruvate. Bromthymol blue indicator changes from blue to yellow when the medium is acidified.

PRECAUTIONS
This medium is for IN VITRO diagnostic use only.


STORAGE
Store prepared media at 2-8° C protected from direct light.


SIGN OF DETERIORATION
Media should not be used if the expiry date has passed. Prepared media should not be used if there are signs of contamination (evaporation or discoloration).


PROCEDURE
Bring prepared medium at room temperature before inoculation.

  1. Inoculate with 2-3 colonies from a 18-24 hours pure growth.
  2. Incubate aerobically up to 5 days with loosened caps.
  3. Examine daily for a yellow reaction.
